PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Benjamin Prince (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and PJ Benn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Prince's entrance music is The Fresh Prince. A fine choice. Benn comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Raised fist- Words and Phrases kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benn tries to land a front kick but Prince steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Benn closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Prince is trying to maintain the position but Benn is very close to passing his half guard.

Benn is nestled in close to Prince, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Prince tries to kick Benn off but Benn keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Benn in particular looking to stall.

Benn is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Prince is looking to control Benn's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Prince avoid being mounted?

Benn seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Benn is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Prince is just riding it out for now. Benn eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Prince has one foot on Benn's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Prince gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Benn is fighting to break Prince's control of his arms but Prince is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Benn might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Prince kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Benn drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Benn jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Prince will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Benn looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Benn jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Prince manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Prince is pushing Benn's head away, looking to escape. Benn manages to hold on to the position though.

PJ Benn showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Prince throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Benn dives in and grabs Prince's left leg, looking for a takedown. Prince pushes down on Benn's head and hops out.

Prince motions for Benn to come forward. Prince throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Benn postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Prince is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Benn, into his guard.

Prince drops back, looking for a kneebar! Benn looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Benn looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Benn!

Benn has an Americana. Prince didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Benn is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Benn hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
