PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Roberto De la Vega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Zaldiar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zaldiar has chosen EL CABRON as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roberto De la Vega!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Zaldiar!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A lazy left from Zaldiar finds it's target.
Zaldiar throws the kick towards the body but De la Vega avoids it.
Zaldiar walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. De la Vega checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
De la Vega keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Zaldiar.
A big right from Zaldiar misses.
De la Vega shoots in and drives through. Zaldiar sprawls well.
Zaldiar tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
De la Vega stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Zaldiar.

De la Vega shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Zaldiar is trying to defend but De la Vega finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

De la Vega is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Zaldiar is just riding it out for now. De la Vega eventually gives up the hold.

De la Vega seems to be working for a kimura but Zaldiar defends the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Zaldiar bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Zaldiar tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Zaldiar has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Zaldiar is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and De la Vega defends it well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
De la Vega regains full guard. Nicely done.
De la Vega keeping moving, preventing Zaldiar from controlling successfully.

Zaldiar is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but De la Vega has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Zaldiar is looking to defend but De la Vega has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Zaldiar! De la Vega pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Zaldiar taps out and this one is all over!
