Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ace Ventura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clark Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Kent's choice of entrance music: In The Morning-Ross Raiden & the RC. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ace Ventura!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clark Kent!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Kent.
Kent takes a swing at Ventura's ribcage but misses.
Kent throws a series of punches but Ventura avoids them all with ease.
Some wild striking there from Ventura.
Kent wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Kent throws a combination that misses
and Ventura counters with a nice kick to the body.
Ventura slips a straight right by Kent.
Kent swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Ventura counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
A big left from Kent misses.
Kent throws a jab but it's blocked by Ventura.

Kent is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

and Ventura counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Ventura wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kent keeps working.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ventura avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kent throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Ventura escapes and throws Kent's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Ventura wants to control but Kent is keeping him busy.
Ventura gets to mount! Kent was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Ventura is landing with some decent strikes but Kent is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

and Ventura makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Kent misses with a straight right.
Ventura takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Ventura moves forwards but Kent connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Ventura slips under a jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kent displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ventura.

and Ventura counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Kent has his foot on Ventura's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ventura works his way back into a safe position though.
Ventura has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ventura looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kent with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Kent tries to get to full guard but Ventura has control of the leg.
Ventura not landing any meaningful shots this time.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kent wants to get back to full guard but Ventura has mounted him!
Kent working to try and regain half guard.
Kent tries to hold on but Ventura pushes him away.
Kent might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ventura kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

and Ventura counters with a three punch combo that has Kent backing up. Kent nods at Ventura to acknowledge the strikes.
Kent swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Ventura counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Ventura fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kent.
Kent takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Ventura ducks under a wild hook from Kent.
Ace Ventura is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kent misses with a takedown
and Ventura counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Kent swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Ventura decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kent's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ventura has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kent's face.

Well Ventura has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
