The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
VanderShmoot circles away from the clinch attempt.
Pierce shoots in but no luck this time.
Pierce tries to clinch there but VanderShmoot circles away.
Pierce fails to land the takedown.
VanderShmoot is looking to chop away at Pierce's legs.
Pierce is on the wrong end of a nice combination from VanderShmoot.
Horrible takedown by Pierce or perhaps it was just good defense by VanderShmoot which made him look bad.
Shrimpboat VanderShmoot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Angel Pierce.
VanderShmoot connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Pierce shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as VanderShmoot sprawls well. VanderShmoot wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pierce gets slowly back to his feet.
Angel Pierce seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pierce shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

VanderShmoot wants to hold on but Pierce pushes him away.
VanderShmoot is trying to escape the mount.
Pierce is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Pierce wants to finish this one by submission but VanderShmoot is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Pierce.
VanderShmoot might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Pierce throws some wild stikes that VanderShmoot manages to avoid easily.

Pierce is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. VanderShmoot is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. VanderShmoot flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Pierce anticipates the leg and manages to get behind VanderShmoot and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Pierce slips an arm under VanderShmoot chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Pierce has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Pierce is squeezing on VanderShmoot like an anaconda would it's prey. VanderShmoot fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
