PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jwan Hakari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kazagawa Mishimina (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hakari comes to the cage accompanied by No Control by Bullet for my Valentime. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jwan Hakari!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazagawa Mishimina!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Shimada and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mishimina tries to clinch up but Hakari circles away and keeps his distance.
Hakari misses with a takedown attempt - Mishimina sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hakari fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Mishimina tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hakari paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Hakari shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Mishimina is desperately trying to improve his position but Hakari has a good base and remains in mount.
Hakari could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Mishimina is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Mishimina slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mishimina is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Hakari jumps into side control!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mishimina throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Mishimina tries to improve position but can't.
Mishimina is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Hakari is breathing heavily.

Mishimina wants to sweep but Hakari has passed to side control!

Mishimina looks to move to half guard but instead Hakari has passed into mount! Damn!
Mishimina is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mishimina is working to get back to half guard.
Hakari controlling the position easily from mount.
Mishimina working to try and regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jwan Hakari will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Mishimina wants to clinch.
Hakari blocks a head kick by Mishimina.
Mishimina fails with the takedown

and Hakari counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hakari.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mishimina doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Mishimina can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hakari controls the pace.

Mishimina is looking to stand back up but Hakari counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Mishimina.
Mishimina is letting Hakari control him for a moment.
Mishimina tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hakari wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hakari tries to advance to mount but can't.
Mishimina is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hakari's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jwan Hakari dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Mishimina shoots and misses

and Hakari counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mishimina won't be happy with that.
Mishimina manages to work his way to half guard, despite Hakari's best efforts.
Mishimina is looking to get back to full guard here but Hakari has managed to pass to side control instead.
Hakari takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Mishimina is in all sorts of trouble here.

Hakari tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Mishimina working to try and regain half guard.
Hakari takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Mishimina is trying to escape the mount.
Mishimina is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Hakari has taken his back.

A bit of a pause in the action here. Hakari controlling the positon.
Mishimina is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Kazagawa Mishimina has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

And that's the end of the fight!
Jwan Hakari showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hakari, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
