The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gari plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Gari moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Monson shoots in and gets a takedown into Gari's guard.

Gari is trying to maintain a safe position but Monson gets an underhook and turns Gari into the cage.
Gari misses with a punch on the inside.
Gari tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Gari throws a punch but it's blocked by Monson.
Gari tries to circle away but Monson has him pinned against the cage.
Gari is pressed up against the cage. Monson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Gari down to the mat. Gari avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Morote Gari has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Monson.

Gari rushes Monson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Monson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Gari pulls his leg out and moves away.
Monson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Monson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gari avoids it really well and circles away.
Gari lands a jab to the head.
Gari scores with a head kick.
Gari explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Gari, as that shot connected.

Gari connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Monson momentarily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Gari moves into the clinch successfully.
Monson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gari fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Gari scores with a one two! Monson had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Gari connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Monson! He's out on his feet! Gari rushes in and drops Monson with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
