Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fighting Baby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bret Hicken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Baby comes into the arena with Ole Ole Ole Ole Ole Ole Ole blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Fighting Baby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bret Hicken!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Donatello Bradman and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hicken misses the shot to the body.
Hicken misses with a low kick.
Baby swings away with a body shot that misses
and Hicken counters with a three punch combo that has Baby backing up. Baby nods at Hicken to acknowledge the strikes.
Hicken throws a jab but it's blocked by Baby.
Baby has his takedown stuffed
and Baby takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
A jab from Baby finds it's way through Hicken's defenses.
Baby throws a body punch but Hicken moves out of range.

Baby falls off balance throwing a combination

and Hicken counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hicken.
Hicken lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Baby blocks a punch to the side of the head.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Hicken doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Baby stalling in the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Hicken.
Hicken goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Hicken lands a body punch in the clinch.
Hicken can't find room to land a body shot as Baby controls the action.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Baby.
Hicken presses Baby against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Hicken softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Baby blocks an uppercut.
Baby blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Baby is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Hicken lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Hicken prevents a body shot from Baby.
Baby can't get the takedown.
Hicken lands with a short shot to the head.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Hicken blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Baby has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hicken is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Baby changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hicken fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Baby utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Baby on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Baby tries to get out of the position.
Hicken wants to control from the top but Baby keeps moving.
Hicken stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Baby swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Baby keeping moving, preventing Hicken from controlling successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Bret Hicken.

and Hicken counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Baby wants to clinch but Hicken slips to the side

and Hicken counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Baby's guard now.
Hicken in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hicken wants to pass the guard but Baby is keeping the position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Baby is trying to keep Hicken in close.
Hicken has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Hicken shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Baby is trying to defend but Hicken finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Baby is refusing to be controlled, as Hicken sits in half guard.
Baby keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Hicken thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Baby's head.
Baby is trying to stand.

Hicken sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Baby's guard.
Hicken thows a huge punch but Baby dodges it nicely.
Baby is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hicken scores with a couple of nice shots.
Baby tries to roll over but Hicken keeps him under control.
Hicken wants to lay and pray for a moment but Baby keeps working.
Hicken trying to advance position but Baby counters by regaining guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bret Hicken showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hicken lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Baby knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hicken on the ground.

Baby has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hicken is working away from the top position though.
Bret Hicken is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Baby won't allow Hicken to pass to mount.

Fighting Baby has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Hicken lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Bret Hicken comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hicken has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
