PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Kerr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Beco Seco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beco Seco will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Kerr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Beco Seco!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Seco is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kerr sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Kerr throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Seco was covering up waiting for the punch and Kerr finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Kerr trying to move into half guard but instead Seco has managed to sweep!

Seco passes Kerr's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Kerr looks like he's trying to stand up.
Seco seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kerr does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Seco is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kerr has managed to free his arm - good work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Seco doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Kerr counters with a nice double leg into side control. Seco won't be happy with that.
Seco is looking for a sweep.
Seco is not content to let Kerr control the position.

Kerr is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Seco has escaped the position, nice work there.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Seco is trying to work for a sweep but Kerr has mounted him!
Seco gets back to half guard.

Kerr looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Kerr throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Kerr takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Seco slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Seco wants to control but Kerr passes easily into half guard.
Seco moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Seco is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Kerr drops back, looking for a kneebar! Seco looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Seco looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Seco!
Kerr is breathing heavily.

Seco tries for a kimura but Kerr is defending well.

The referee asks Seco politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Seco prefers to stall for the moment though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Kerr wants to lay and pray for a moment but Seco keeps working.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Seco is staying active underneath Kerr, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Mark Kerr overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Seco lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kerr!
Seco wants to control the pace but Kerr is squirming around nicely.

Seco moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Kerr has worked his arm free - good work by Kerr!
Kerr gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Kerr is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Seco is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Kerr is surviving well by controlling Seco's body position as best he can.
Seco looking to control but Kerr is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Kerr squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Seco with a lazy takedown attempt

Kerr swings around for an armbar but Seco sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Kerr's guard.
Seco is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Seco wants to finish this one by submission but Kerr is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Seco.

Seco is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Kerr to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kerr shrugs it off.
Seco can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kerr is looking to escape.

Seco jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Kerr is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Kerr and Seco has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Beco Seco.
