Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Xavier McPherson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Yoshihiro Machida!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida shoots in looking for a takedown. McPherson tries to sprawl out of it but Machida keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McPherson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Machida throws a head kick that misses.
Machida shoots in but no luck this time.
Machida lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but McPherson circles away quickly and effectively.
Machida shoots in looking for a takedown. McPherson tries to sprawl out of it but Machida keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McPherson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Xavier McPherson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoshihiro Machida.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McPherson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Machida.

McPherson connects with a nasty looking knee right to Machida's face.

McPherson lands a nice knee to the body.
McPherson will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Machida up against the cage.

McPherson has Machida pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Machida is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from McPherson - that's hurt Machida badly! Oh, another knee lands and Machida is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Machida doesn't seem to be complaining.
