PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexandrovich Fyodor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kellen Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fyodor comes into the arena with The Last Emperor blaring out of the sound system. Smith has chosen Turn My Swag On as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexandrovich Fyodor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kellen Smith!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Vladimir Khabensky.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith lands a lovely overhand right.

It looks like Alexandrovich Fyodor has been cut.
Smith scores with a body shot.
Smith throws a hook but Fyodor avoids it easily.
Smith will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Smith cracks Fyodor with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Smith has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Fyodor to stand back up!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fyodor cracks Smith with an open hand slap.
Smith throws a series of punches but Fyodor avoids them all with ease.
Smith throws a right hand that Fyodor ducks under and follows up with a left that Fyodor also avoids with ease.
A decent looking cross lands there for Smith.
Smith misses with a wild combination.
Smith loads up on a big right hand but Fyodor slips the punch.

That's one minute gone in the round.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Smith enables Fyodor to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Smith manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Smith pushes Fyodor off and scrambles back to his feet.
Kellen Smith is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Smith throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Fyodor sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Fyodor tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Fyodor tries to bum rush Smith with a series of wild strikes but Smith uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Fyodor displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Smith throws out the jab.
Fyodor takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Smith looks to throw the jab but Fyodor is out of range.
Smith jabs at Fyodor's body.
Fyodor is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smith scores with a body shot.
Fyodor closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Smith sends Fyodor crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Smith is motioning to the referee to let Fyodor up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Fyodor is rocked!

Alexandrovich Fyodor's cut is getting worse.
Smith shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Fyodor takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Smith sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Fyodor bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!
