Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Martti Metsonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ted Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Metsonen comes to the cage accompanied by Michael Jackson - Beat It. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Martti Metsonen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ted Grant!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Metsonen waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Grant.
Metsonen doesn't manage to clinch there - Grant circles away.

Metsonen rushes Grant and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Grant drops down looking for an ankle pick but Metsonen pulls his leg out and moves away.

Grant moves into the clinch.

Metsonen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The fight stays on the outside here - Metsonen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Metsonen with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Metsonen misses with a head kick.
Metsonen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Grant pinned against the cage. Grant gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Metsonen throws a knee to the head but misses.
Metsonen is looking to control Grant's arms but Grant gets an underhook and turns him. Now Metsonen has his back to the cage.
Grant tries to stall but Metsonen uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Grant breaks the clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Metsonen wants to break the clinch but can't.

Metsonen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Metsonen counters by clinching up.
Grant tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Metsonen just stands there and leans against the cage.
Metsonen keeps control of Grant as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Grant is trying to break the clinch but Metsonen has him pressed against the cage.

Metsonen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Grant scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Well, if Grant is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Metsonen has a hand on Grant's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Grant takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Grant moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Metsonen has worked his arm free - good work by Metsonen!

Grant is looking to take a break and control but Metsonen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Grant is looking for a kimura but Metsonen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Grant to get the leverage.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Metsonen turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Grant makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Grant.

Grant gets to his feet. Metsonen looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

and Grant counters with a nice double leg into side control. Metsonen won't be happy with that.
Metsonen wants to get back to his feet but Grant drags him back down.

Metsonen manages to work his way to half guard, despite Grant's best efforts.

Grant has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Metsonen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Grant is nestled in close to Metsonen, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

That was a close fourth round but I would say that Martti Metsonen will probably get the nod.
