The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Long lands a head shot.
Long throws a right and a left that Rene avoids nicely.
Rene throws out a loose jab but Long uses good head movement to avoid it.
Rene doesn't manage to clinch there - Long circles away.
Long misses with a wild combination.
A bone on bone clash there as Long blocks the leg kick.
Long staying out of range there.
Rene smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
It looks like Alex Long has been cut.
Rene throws an overhand right that lands on Long's shoulder, as Long tries to avoid the shot.
Rene is looking to clinch.
Rene tries to clinch but Long moves out of range.
A jab from Rene misses.

Long misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Rene swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Long thuds his shin into the meat of Rene's side.
Rene tries a low kick but Long avoids it.

Long lands a nice hook to Rene's body. Rene takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

and Rene counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
No joy there for Long, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Rene tries to close the distance and clinch but Long swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Long throws a combination that misses
and Rene counters with an outside leg kick.
Rene throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Rene takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Rene throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Long stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Rene throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
A lazy left from Long finds it's target.
Rene is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Rene fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Long cracks Rene with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Rene throws a predictable looking body shot
and Long counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
No joy there for Long, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Long closes the distance and clinches.

Long is trying to maintain a safe position but Rene gets an underhook and turns Long into the cage.
Long wants to break the clinch but can't.

Rene lands with a light punch inside.
Long misses with the head strike.
Rene digs a right hand into Long's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Long's gas tank.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Long lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Rene lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Long.
Long tries to stall but Rene uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Shane Rene will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Rene lands a big right hand that sends Long crashing to the mat! Rene stays standing though and waves Long back to his feet!
A looping hook to the body misses from Rene. Long does a little dance to reset his feet.

Rene throws a shot from downtown. Long moves away and avoids it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rene looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rene missing with a left hand there. Long was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Rene lands with a massive overhand right! Stick a fork in Long - he's out cold! Ermm... I think I just mixed my metaphors but yeah... That was a nice KO! Big win for Rene!
