Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Old Bastard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hakuna Matata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Old Bastard has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Old Bastard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hakuna Matata!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bastard drives through with a takedown into guard.

Bastard drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bastard jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Bastard might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Matata has control of Bastard's left arm, preventing Bastard from doing any damage.
Let's hope that Matata has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Matata controls Bastard momentarily but Bastard frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bastard throwing strikes from guard but Matata blocks nicely.
Bastard pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Matata is keeping the position for now.
Matata is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Bastard looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Matata is defending against the submission attempts here by Bastard.
Matata trying to control but Bastard postures up.

Matata wants to get back to full guard.
Matata is doing well to control the position and prevent Bastard from advancing to side control.
Matata is looking for a sweep. Bastard is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Matata wants to control but Bastard is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Bastard is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Bastard is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Bastard is breathing heavily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Matata gets a takedown into half guard.
Matata is controlling the pace.
Matata trying to control from half guard but Bastard is working away.

Matata prevents Bastard from improving his position.
Still in half guard, Matata seems content to control.
Bastard tries to get to full guard but Matata has control of the leg.
Matata is taking a breather. Bastard says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Matata's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Bastard gets back to full guard.

Bastard had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Matata is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Bastard Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Matata's back instead.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bastard gets his hands free as Matata looks to control.
Bastard lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Matata rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Matata wants to improve his position but Bastard is controlling well.

Bastard is trying for a kimura here. Matata looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Bastard wins by kimura!
