Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Clapp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Den Burlaka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Den Burlaka is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joe Clapp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Den Burlaka!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Viktor Lagutenko and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clapp wants to clinch up but Burlaka keeps it at a distance.
Burlaka misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Horrible takedown by Clapp or perhaps it was just good defense by Burlaka which made him look bad.
Clapp tries for a takedown but Burlaka circles away easily

and Burlaka counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Clapp!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Burlaka tries to control but Clapp wriggling away.
Clapp is trying to escape the mount.

Clapp knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Burlaka on the ground.

Burlaka swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Clapp is now in Burlaka's guard. A big mistake from Burlaka there, giving up the dominant position!

Clapp wanted to stand there but Burlaka had control of the position.
Clapp trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Clapp won't allow Burlaka to get back to his feet.
Clapp wants to stand but Burlaka is controlling his posture from full guard.
Clapp stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Burlaka swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Clapp throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Burlaka works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Burlaka is defended easily by Clapp.
Clapp looks to land a combination. Burlaka sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Clapp is looking to clinch but Burlaka is avoiding it.

Burlaka throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Clapp was covering up waiting for the punch and Burlaka finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Clapp wants to sweep here but Burlaka controlling him for the moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Burlaka shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Clapp is trying to defend but Burlaka finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Burlaka in particular looking to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Burlaka shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Clapp defends it nicely.
Clapp tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Burlaka paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Joe Clapp is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Clapp throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Burlaka is looking to clinch but Clapp is avoiding it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Clapp pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Burlaka lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Burlaka.


It looks like Joe Clapp has been cut.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Burlaka has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Clapp is proving hard to escape from.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Clapp doesn't succeed with the takedown

Burlaka is trying to break the clinch but Clapp has him pressed against the cage.
Clapp wants a takedown but no success here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Clapp. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Burlaka drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Den Burlaka showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Clapp keeps the fight on the outside.

Den Burlaka has got the better of the ground game so far.

Burlaka decides to return to a standing position.
Burlaka looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Clapp is fending him off so far but Burlaka persists. Nope, Clapp circles away and we're back to standing.
Clapp fails to land with a series of punches.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Burlaka forces Clapp back against the cage and clinches.
Burlaka is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Clapp wants to control but Burlaka postures up.
Burlaka is staying tight to Clapp's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Clapp is working to avoid the ground and pound but Burlaka connects with a decent elbow.

Burlaka creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Burlaka remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Clapp is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Burlaka is controlling him well.

Burlaka is looking to take a break and control but Clapp is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Den Burlaka comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Burlaka winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
