PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Earl Oyster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Lacey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lacey has chosen Motley Crue - Wild Side as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Earl Oyster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Lacey!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Steve Montenegro and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oyster throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Lacey tries to score a power double leg takedown but Oyster sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lacey somewhat.
Oyster doesn't manage to clinch there - Lacey circles away.
Lacey misses with a series of wild punches.
Lacey falls off balance throwing a combination
and Oyster counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Lacey throws an overhand right that lands on Oyster's shoulder, as Oyster tries to avoid the shot.
Lacey takes one on the chin but seems OK.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Lacey.
Oyster is pressed up against the cage. Lacey has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Oyster down to the mat. Oyster avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Oyster tries to close the distance and clinch but Lacey swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Oyster closes the distance and clinches.
Lacey is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Oyster pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Earl Oyster has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Lacey.
Lacey wants a takedown.
Lacey tries for a takedown but Oyster manages to get underhooks.
Lacey looks gassed!
Lacey has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Oyster avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Lacey goes for a takedown in the clinch but Oyster prevents it.
Oyster slowing the pace effectively.
Oyster is trying to break free.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A bit of stalling here from Oyster.
Lacey has Oyster pressed against the cage, preventing Oyster from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Lacey drops down looking for an ankle pick but Oyster pulls his leg out and moves away.
Lacey shoots in looking for a takedown. Oyster tries to sprawl out of it but Lacey keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Oyster manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Good standup being displayed there by Oyster as he connects with a hook.
Oyster connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Lacey momentarily.
Oyster comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Oyster tries to clinch but Lacey moves out of range.
Oyster moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Oyster fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Lacey has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Oyster lands a body shot.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Oyster, right into the meat.
Oyster scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Oyster cracks Lacey with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
A nice combination there by Oyster.


Lacey is rocked!
Lacey takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Oyster closes the distance and pushes Lacey back into the cage.

Oyster breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Oyster scoring well with a low kick there.
Lacey rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Oyster moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Decent striking displayed by Oyster there.
Oyster lands a head shot.
Lacey is still on wobbly legs! Can Oyster finish him?
Oyster jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Oyster lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Lacey is looking to close the distance but Oyster sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Lacey crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Lacey is OK because that was naaaaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Knee). Earl Oyster!
