PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jeremiah Ethan Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Kronic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Jeremiah Ethan Cruz has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeremiah Ethan Cruz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Kronic!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Kronic shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cruz napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Kronic trying to control the action but Cruz is working from the bottom.
Kronic looking to control but instead Cruz has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Kronic is keen to just control but Cruz is a slippery customer.
Kronic wants to free his trapped foot but Cruz is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Kronic is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Kronic wants to work for an arm triangle but Cruz is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kronic is working for a kimura but Cruz is defending it quite comfortably.
Kronic takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Kronic wants to take a breather but Cruz is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kronic is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Cruz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kronic on the ground.
Kronic throwing shots but Cruz is blocking nicely.
Cruz is trying to stand back up but Kronic is controlling him
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Kronic passes to full mount!
Cruz on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cruz tries to get out of the position.
Cruz squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Kronic is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Cruz is surviving well by controlling Kronic's body position as best he can.
Kronic looking to finish Cruz with some ground and pound. This is bad for Cruz!

Kronic throws some wild stikes that Cruz manages to avoid easily.

Kronic is working for a guillotine from mount but Cruz frees his head quite easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kronic has control of Cruz's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Cruz regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Cruz is squirming around, avoiding Kronic's attempts to control the action.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cruz avoids a series of strikes thrown by Kronic.
Kronic throws some wild stikes that Cruz manages to avoid easily.
Kronic looking to control but Cruz is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Kronic looking to finish with strikes here!
Cruz wants to get back to his feet.
Kronic in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Kronic dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Cruz getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Cruz defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kronic.

Kronic drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kronic passes Cruz's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Kronic has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kronic controlling the action here.

Kronic is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cruz is just riding it out for now. Kronic eventually gives up the hold.

Kronic is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Cruz is staying active underneath Kronic, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Cruz is trying to stand.
Kronic not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Kronic uses his free foot to push down on Cruz's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Cruz.
Kronic punching from mount but Cruz doing a good job of avoiding damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kronic trying to control but Cruz is having none of it.

Cruz is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Kronic locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Cruz is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jack Kronic!
