PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Duscaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Williams might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Robot Rock-Daft Punk. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brandon Duscaw!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams lands a jab.
Duscaw will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Duscaw bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Williams stalks Duscaw and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Duscaw's face. Duscaw staggers backwards, shaken.
Duscaw shoots for a takedown but Williams saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Duscaw fails to land the takedown.
James Williams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brandon Duscaw.
Williams fails to land with a series of punches.
Williams throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Williams fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Williams keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Williams throws a right and a left that both miss.
A slow jab from Williams misses its intended target.
Horrible takedown by Duscaw or perhaps it was just good defense by Williams which made him look bad.

Duscaw shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Duscaw lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Williams knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Duscaw on the ground.

Duscaw takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Duscaw seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Williams does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Brandon Duscaw hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Williams is not content to let Duscaw control the position.

Duscaw working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Williams seems a little lost for a moment, as Duscaw dominates the positioning.
Duscaw throws an elbow but Williams slips to the side and avoids it well.

Duscaw thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The strikes coming from Duscaw are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Williams tries to bench press Duscaw off him but Duscaw keeps the position.

Duscaw is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Williams knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Williams manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Duscaw takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Duscaw is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Williams defends it well.

A close round but Brandon Duscaw will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Williams throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Duscaw decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Williams is trying to maintain the position but Duscaw is very close to passing his half guard.
Duscaw blocks the strikes from Williams.
Williams is looking to improve his position.
Duscaw throwing shots but Williams is blocking nicely.
Duscaw passes the guard and advances to mount!

Duscaw is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Williams can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Duscaw might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Williams kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Duscaw looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Duscaw lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Williams is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Duscaw cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Duscaw trying to control but Williams is having none of it.
Duscaw looking to finish Williams with some ground and pound. This is bad for Williams!
Duscaw is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Williams can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Duscaw has hold of Williams's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Williams manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Williams can't escape the position.

Duscaw lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Williams is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Duscaw trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Duscaw landing strikes from the mount and Williams is in trouble!
Williams is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Duscaw takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Duscaw looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Duscaw controlling the pace for now.

Duscaw is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Duscaw extends the arm and Williams is forced to tap!
