PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pancho Machete (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Sano and Tatsuya Matsuyama.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machete shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gracie but Gracie pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Machete avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Gracie misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Machete.
Machete lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

It looks like Carlos Gracie has been cut.
Gracie dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Machete throws a series of punches but Gracie moves out of range.
Gracie fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Machete manages to avoid it.
Gracie fails with the takedown.
Machete misses with a series of wild punches.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Machete avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Gracie.
Gracie seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Gracie prevents Machete from improving his position.
Machete tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Machete tries to kick Gracie off but Gracie keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Gracie takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

It looks like Pancho Machete has been cut.
Gracie works his way into side control.

Gracie trying to control the action but Machete is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie misses with the ground and pound.

Machete is trying to control Gracie's posture but Gracie avoids it.
Machete takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Gracie looks up at the clock and then as Machete takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Gracie smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
You can see the frustration on Machete's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Machete managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Gracie.
Gracie works to advance to full mount. Machete defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Gracie lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Pancho Machete's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
