PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lee Gunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Tim Taylor was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lee Gunn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Tim Taylor!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Glass and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunn slips under a jab.
Taylor looks to land a left hand but Gunn moved out of range nicely.
Gunn throws a jab but it's blocked by Taylor.
A combination from Taylor does no damage.
Taylor fails to land with a series of punches.
A big right from Taylor misses.
Good standup being displayed there by Gunn as he connects with a hook.
Taylor slips a jab from Gunn.

Gunn throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Taylor tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gunn is in Taylor's guard.

Taylor wants to get back to his feet but Gunn is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Taylor can do anything to dispel that myth.

Gunn is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Taylor is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Taylor has escaped and now he's on top!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gunn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Taylor gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gunn working for a triangle but Taylor defends it easily.

Gunn is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Gunn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Taylor doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Taylor manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Taylor wanted to stand there but Gunn had control of the position.

Taylor got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gunn has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Taylor has managed to get both his arms back between Gunn's legs - danger averted.

Taylor gets to his feet. Gunn looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Taylor on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Gunn jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Taylor throws a hook to the side of Gunn's head but Gunn sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Taylor throws a jab when Gunn was well out of range.
Taylor rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gunn moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Taylor scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


It looks like Lee Gunn has been cut.
Tim Taylor is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Taylor throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gunn has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Gunn there as he acknowledges the shot.
Taylor blocks a jab.
Gunn throws a hook but Taylor avoids it easily.
Gunn staying out of range there.
Taylor throws a lazy right hand but Gunn sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Taylor throws a jab when Gunn was well out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Taylor misses the jab.
Taylor lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gunn circles away quickly and effectively.
Taylor misses with a few strikes there.
Taylor looks to throw the jab but Gunn is out of range.
Taylor stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Taylor wants it to stay on the feet.
Gunn looks to land a right hand but Taylor moved out of range.
Taylor might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Taylor is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Gunn misses with an uppercut.
Gunn avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Gunn loads up on a big right hand but Taylor slips the punch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Lee Gunn will probably get the nod.

Taylor fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Taylor will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gunn takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Gunn throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Taylor sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Taylor is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Gunn trying to move into half guard but instead Taylor has managed to sweep!
Taylor is looking to stand up but Gunn won't let him.

Taylor is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Gunn has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Taylor is looking to defend but Gunn has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Taylor! Gunn pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Taylor taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Lee Gunn!
