Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Christopher Maine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Welch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jeremy Welch is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Christopher Maine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeremy Welch!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maine pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Maine fails with an attempt to clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Maine connects with a knee to the head.
Welch wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Maine lands a knee to the head.
Welch prevents a takedown attempt there.
Maine keeps control of Welch as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Welch takes a knee right on the jaw!


It looks like Jeremy Welch has been cut.
Welch dodges an elbow strike from Maine.
Maine looking to throw knees to the head but Welch is blocking nicely.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Maine.
Maine goes for a takedown attempt but Welch pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Maine fails in his attempt to clinch.
Maine tries to land a front kick but Welch steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Welch takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

Both fighters circling a little - Maine finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Welch connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Maine momentarily.
Welch dives in and grabs Maine's left leg, looking for a takedown. Maine pushes down on Welch's head and hops out.

and Welch counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Welch.

Maine is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Welch is aware though and is defending well.

Welch is pushing down on Maine's leg trying to pass to half guard. Maine is fighting to maintain full guard but Welch has managed to sneak the leg through.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Welch connects with a nice short shot to Maine's temple.

Maine makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Maine.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Welch accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Maine working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Welch doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Welch manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Welch really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Maine. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Maine has a closed guard, preventing Welch from standing up.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Welch lands a nice short elbow.
Welch tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Maine is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Welch's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Welch's back!
Welch wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Welch defends a prolonged rear naked choke attempt and turns nicely into his opponent's guard.

Welch dives in and grabs Maine's left leg, looking for a takedown. Maine pushes down on Welch's head and hops out.

Maine throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Welch takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Maine throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Maine tries to clinch but Welch moves out of range.

Welch fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Maine is out of range.
Maine throws a head kick that Welch semi-blocks.
Maine stuffs the takedown attempt from Welch. Welch gets slowly back to his feet.
Maine fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Welch.

Maine lands a nice looking kick to the body. Welch takes a step back to recover.

Jeremy Welch is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Maine throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Welch was covering up waiting for the punch and Maine finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Maine is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Welch is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Welch has escaped and now he's on top!

Maine has his foot on Welch's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Welch works his way back into a safe position though.

Welch must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Welch stands and throws Maine's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Welch connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Maine some visible discomfort.
Maine manages to get back to half guard.
Maine blocking the ground and pound attempt from Welch.

Maine looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Welch uses his free foot to push down on Maine's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Maine.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Welch takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

and Maine counters with a slapping leg kick.
A slapping body kick lands there for Maine.
Maine pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Maine looks to land a body kick but Welch moved away.
Maine throws a nice outside leg kick.
Welch wants to land a leg kick but Maine is out of range.
A chopping leg kick lands by Maine.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Maine.
Maine throws out a leg kick but Welch moves out of range and Maine only half commits.
Maine thumps Welch with a low kick.
Maine looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Welch has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Maine.

and Welch counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Maine's guard now.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Welch scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Maine keeping full guard, as Welch tries to pass.
Jeremy Welch has got the better of the ground game so far.
Welch lands a couple of elbows.
Maine lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Welch!
Maine throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Maine jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Welch is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Welch and Maine has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Welch wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Maine is trying to get an arm triangle but Welch is defending well.
Maine misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Jeremy Welch.
I think Welch has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
