PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carwin Brock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Larry King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brock comes into the arena with Elephant Man - Haters (feat Hunt & Jim Jones) blaring out of the sound system. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Carwin Brock!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Larry King!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Dillan Fox.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King throws a series of punches but Brock moves out of range.
Brock throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
King lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Brock circles away quickly and effectively.
Brock slips a jab and a cross from King.
King swinging wildly here.
King checks a leg kick.
Brock moves away from the strike by King.
King with a nice cross.
King misses with a straight right.
Brock shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with King but King pushes him off and we're back to square one.
No joy there for Brock, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Brock changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. King tries to avoid it but Brock manages to keep hold of a leg and drag King to the ground. King escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
King misses with a double jab

and Brock counters with a shoot takedown. King fights it but they end up in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brock postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Brock throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brock drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and King dives on top into guard.
Brock has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
King controlling from the top position.
Brock will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Brock has his foot on King's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. King works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
King looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Brock looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Brock is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. King is aware though and is defending well.
King lands a couple of elbows.
King's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Brock can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as King controls the pace.

Brock is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and King defends well.
King slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Brock has a closed guard, preventing King from standing up.

Brock is working an open guard so King takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
King misses with a jab, cross combination.
Brock circles away from the clinch attempt
and Brock counters with a slapping leg kick.
King thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Brock if he has to take too many more of those.

King drops Brock with a beautiful combination! Brock stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - King is looking for the KO!

Brock is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

King lands a big uppercut and Brock crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Brock looks OK. King waves Brock back to his feet!
Oh Brock is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Brock switches off momentarily and King cracks him with a monster right hand! Brock topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as King dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by King!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Larry King!
