The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brookins throws a head kick that misses.
Brookins shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shields as he jumps to the side.
Brookins will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Brookins.
Brookins misses with a body kick.
Shields doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Brookins counters with a single leg into guard. Shields didn't expect that.
Shields is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Brookins has his hands clasped together but Shields extends an breaks Brookins's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Shields.
