PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jung Sung Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mkat Twilight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kim might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Crash by Fit for Rivals. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kim throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Kim tries to close the distance and clinch up but Twilight swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kim is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A solid leg kick lands there for Twilight.
Kim throws a series of punches but Twilight moves out of range.
Twilight missing with a left hand there. Kim was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Twilight misses with an uppercut.
Twilight wants to clinch but Kim slips to the side

and Kim counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Twilight is not content to let Kim control the position.
Twilight is looking for a sweep. Kim is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kim thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Twilight's head.
Twilight looks like he's trying to stand up.
Kim thows a huge punch but Twilight dodges it nicely.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kim is trying to control. Twilight wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Kim is looking to take a break and control but Twilight is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Twilight pushes Kim off looking to stand but Kim dives back in and keeps control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Twilight darts in trying to clinch

and Kim counters with a shoot takedown. Twilight fights it but they end up in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kim trying to control but Twilight is working from the bottom.
Kim is stalling in the full guard.
Kim has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kim sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Twilight's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Twilight is not content to let Kim control the position.
Kim stops Twilight from getting back to his feet.

Kim is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Twilight has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kim is working away from the top position though.
Twilight tries to roll over but Kim keeps him under control.
Kim is stalling here. Twilight is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Kim seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Twilight has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Twilight looks to clinch
and Kim cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Twilight throws a wild body kick that Kim sees coming a mile off.
Twilight defending well as Kim loads up on a big left hand.
Twilight tries to clinch but Kim moves away
and Kim counters with a right hand to the body.
Kim circles away from the clinch attempt

and Kim counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kim.
Kim is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Twilight is keeping busy.

Twilight pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Kim counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kim.
Twilight pulls Kim in close to prevent any damage.
Kim is looking to advance position but Twilight has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Twilight moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Kim has worked his arm free - good work by Kim!

Twilight decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Twilight closes the distance but Kim moves to the side
and Kim counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Kim takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Kim wants to lay and pray for a moment but Twilight keeps working.
Kim thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Twilight to regain full guard.
Kim prevents Twilight from getting back to his feet.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Kim wants to control from the top but Twilight keeps moving.

Jung Sung Kim has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Twilight tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kim swivels and escapes.
Twilight throws a leg kick but Kim sees it coming and checks it nicely.

and Kim holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Kim using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Twilight has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Twilight pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kim bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Twilight scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

enabling Kim to counter with a crisp jab.

Twilight swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Kim.
Kim keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Twilight gets the takedown into side control.

Twilight swings around for an armbar but Kim sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Twilight's guard.
Twilight seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Twilight wants to sweep here but Kim controlling him for the moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kim slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Twilight is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kim's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kim's back!

Twilight has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Kim has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Twilight is looking to control Kim but Kim is wriggling around and keeping busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kim, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
