PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Hass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Denny Chase (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hass comes to the cage accompanied by Ain't No Rest For the Wicked-Cage the Elephant. Denny Chase acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Hass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Denny Chase!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hass takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Hass is trying hard to land a takedown here. Chase sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Chase connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Chase moves into the clinch.
Chase is working for takedown but Hass is calmly controlling the position for now.
Hass wants a takedown.
Chase has Hass pushed against the cage.
Hass can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Hass. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Chase lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Chase manages to break the clinch.
Hass shoots for a double leg takedown but Chase sprawls well. He's pushed Hass's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Hass looking for a guillotine from mount but Chase is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hass trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Chase is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Hass is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Chase has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Chase is desperately trying to improve his position but Hass has a good base and remains in mount.

Hass is working for a guillotine from mount but Chase frees his head quite easily.

Hass is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Chase to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Chase shrugs it off.
Hass is breathing heavily.

Hass goes for an armbar but Chase turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Chase.
Chase would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Hass tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Hass looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Hass has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Chase can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Chase is fighting to break Hass's control of his arms but Hass is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Chase trying to control the position from guard on top but Hass is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Chase wanted to stand there but Hass had control of the position.

Chase avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Hass looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Chase must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Chase tries to stand but Hass is controlling from the bottom.

Hass working for a triangle but Chase defends it easily.
Chase wants to stand but Hass has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Hass keeping moving, preventing Chase from controlling successfully.

Hass is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Chase is aware though and is defending well.
Chase has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hass is proving hard to escape from.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hass working for submissions but it's allowed Chase to get to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Hass dominated that round.
That's time! Hass's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Chase wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Chase jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Hass on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Hass shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Hass drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hass jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hass is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Chase is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hass is controlling him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hass stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chase swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Chase is looking to stand up but Hass isn't so interested in that idea.

Chase keeping moving, preventing Hass from controlling successfully.
Hass looking to pass the guard.
Hass trying to control the position from guard on top but Chase is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Chase is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Chase really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hass. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hass throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Chase's waist but Chase gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hass off to one side.
Hass takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Chase works the jab nicely.
Hass shoots for a double leg takedown but Chase sprawls well. He's pushed Hass's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Chase lands a head shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Chase changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Chase scores with the left hand. Hass knows he should have avoided that one.
Chase scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.


It looks like Jack Hass has been cut.
Chase connects with a right hand. Hass shakes it off.
Hass takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hass takes a jab right on the kisser.
Hass shoots for a takedown but Chase saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Hass. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Chase scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hass doesn't seem bothered though.
Chase lands a lovely overhand right.


Hass is rocked!
Denny Chase seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Chase ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Hass's jaw. Hass's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Chase does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.
