Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between OJ Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Wheldon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, OJ Simpson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kevin Wheldon!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Alyssa Summers and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wheldon throws out a loose jab but Simpson uses good head movement to avoid it.

Simpson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Simpson lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Simpson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wheldon can do to turn this around?

Simpson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Simpson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Wheldon for as long as he can get away with.
Simpson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Simpson fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Wheldon has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Well Simpson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
