Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, David Mclevain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Icaro Asas!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Asas shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mclevain but Mclevain pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Asas shoots for a takedown but Mclevain saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mclevain circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mclevain shoots in but Asas avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Asas looks to land a body kick but Mclevain moved away.

Asas closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mclevain to the mat! Mclevain manages to get full guard.
Asas trying to control the position from guard on top but Mclevain is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Asas is looking to stand up but Mclevain won't let him.
Asas throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Mclevain controls Asas momentarily but Asas frees himself.

Asas throws a big right hand that misses.
Asas postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Mclevain wants to get back to his feet but Asas is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Asas is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mclevain keeping full guard, as Asas tries to pass.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Asas shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Mclevain counters with a single leg into guard. Asas didn't expect that.
David Mclevain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Icaro Asas.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Asas is trying to control the position but Mclevain postures up.
Asas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mclevain is one step ahead there.
Asas keeping full guard, as Mclevain tries to pass.
Asas has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Asas is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Asas missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Mclevain is controlling Asas's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Asas throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Asas throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Mclevain is breathing heavily.

Asas gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Mclevain misses with a takedown attempt

and Asas counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Asas drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Asas is working for takedown but Mclevain is calmly controlling the position for now.

Asas pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Asas fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mclevain tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Asas counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Asas is looking to take a break and control but Mclevain is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Asas is looking to advance position but Mclevain won't allow it.
Asas looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Asas is nestled in close to Mclevain, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Asas is looking for a kimura but Mclevain is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Asas to get the leverage.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Asas lands a nice short elbow.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Asas sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Mclevain defending well though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Icaro Asas dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Asas closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Asas lands in his opponent's guard.
Asas is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Asas gets to his feet. Mclevain looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Mclevain gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Asas counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mclevain!
Asas trying to control but Mclevain is having none of it.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

It looks like David Mclevain has been cut.

David Mclevain's cut is getting worse.
Asas is landing with some decent strikes but Mclevain is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.


David Mclevain's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Asas working the ground and pound effectively.


Jeez, David Mclevain's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at David Mclevain's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
