Rodriguez comes to the cage accompanied by War is my destiny. Eliseo Rodriguez could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Stephan Potvin's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Potvin gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rodriguez to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Rodriguez is looking for a triangle but Potvin pushes his legs off easily.
Potvin wants to pass the guard but Rodriguez is keeping the position.
Potvin advances position into side control!
Potvin wants to control but Rodriguez is keeping him busy.

Rodriguez tries to buck Potvin off but Potvin is having none of it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Potvin misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Potvin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rodriguez keeps working.

Potvin swings around for an armbar but Rodriguez sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Potvin's guard.

Rodriguez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Rodriguez passes Potvin's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Rodriguez wants to work for an arm triangle but Potvin is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Potvin is in trouble now - Rodriguez has advanced to mount!

Rodriguez has control of Potvin's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Potvin regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Potvin avoids a series of strikes thrown by Rodriguez.

Potvin is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Rodriguez off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
I would not like to be Potvin right now.

Rodriguez looking to break Potvin's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Potvin remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Rodriguez will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Eliseo Rodriguez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The fighters are battling for position here. Potvin manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Potvin isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Rodriguez stacks Potvin on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Rodriguez!
