Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between QL Hicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Garry Dupuis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dupuis has chosen Warriors Of Time by Black Tide as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, QL Hicks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Garry Dupuis!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from Dupuis misses its intended target.

Dupuis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Hicks looks to score with a jab to the body but Dupuis is just out of range.

Dupuis drops his hands momentarily and Hicks takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Hicks decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Hicks lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Dupuis is trying to control but can't.
Hicks seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dupuis does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Hicks has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

A close round but Garry Dupuis will probably get the nod.
That's time! Hicks's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Hicks throws a hook but Dupuis avoids it easily.

Hicks's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Dupuis is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Hicks dives into side control.
Hicks connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Dupuis some visible discomfort.

Hicks tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hicks has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Dupuis is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Hicks has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dupuis is bucking up trying to escape but Hicks cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
You get the feeling that Dupuis really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Hicks can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Dupuis is looking to escape.

QL Hicks dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Hicks throws a strike but Dupuis rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Dupuis pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hicks is keeping the position for now.
Hicks is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
QL Hicks overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hicks keeping moving, preventing Dupuis from controlling successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Garry Dupuis.
Dupuis throws a push kick but Hicks slaps the foot to one side.
A looping hook to the body misses from Dupuis. Hicks does a little dance to reset his feet.
Dupuis tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hicks was well out of range. Poor timing from Dupuis.
Garry Dupuis seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Hicks closes the distance and clinches.

Hicks pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hicks moves out of range of the strikes.
Dupuis throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Dupuis lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Dupuis misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hicks is looking to wear down Dupuis with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Hicks checks a leg kick.

Dupuis wants to control but Hicks is having none of it.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hicks cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

And that's the end of the fight!
QL Hicks showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Hicks has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
