Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Itof Meyachev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Krysz Kawolski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Meyachev comes to the cage accompanied by Pussy by Rammstein. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Itof Meyachev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Krysz Kawolski!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kawolski.
Kawolski leaves Meyachev with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Meyachev is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kawolski sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kawolski fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

and Kawolski counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Meyachev got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kawolski has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Meyachev has managed to get both his arms back between Kawolski's legs - danger averted.

Itof Meyachev has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Meyachev shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Kawolski tries to hold on but Meyachev postures up.
Meyachev can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kawolski is looking to escape.

Meyachev is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kawolski can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Meyachev lands a decent elbow from side control.

Kawolski parries the strikes from Meyachev easily there. Meyachev is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kawolski to escape.

Meyachev is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Kawolski is staying active underneath Meyachev, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Kawolski controls Meyachev momentarily but Meyachev frees himself.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Itof Meyachev.
Kawolski ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Meyachev moves away.
Kawolski misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Meyachev tries for a takedown but Kawolski sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Meyachev shoots for a double leg takedown but Kawolski sprawls well. He's pushed Meyachev's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kawolski misses the shot to the body.
Meyachev fails with a takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Itof Meyachev will probably get the nod.

Meyachev closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Meyachev lands in his opponent's guard.

Kawolski looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Meyachev has picked Kawolski up and slammed him! Kawolski can't keep hold of the triangle and Meyachev manages to pass to side control!

Meyachev thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Meyachev wants to take a breather but Kawolski is having none of it.

Kawolski is refusing to be controlled, as Meyachev sits in half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
