PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Robert Graves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Graves comes into the arena with Atreyu - Bleeding Mascara blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robert Graves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Peter Paul!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paul looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Paul misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Peter Paul seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Paul staying out of range there.
Graves moves in looking to clinch but Paul pushes him off.

Paul drives through and clinches with Graves against the cage.
Paul goes for a takedown attempt but Graves pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Paul shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Graves wants to hold on but Paul pushes him away.
Paul wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.

Paul wants to finish this one by submission but Graves is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Paul.
Graves keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Graves wants to control but Paul is having none of it.
Graves tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Graves gets back to half guard.

Paul is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Graves makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Graves.

Graves is looking for a triangle but Paul pushes his legs off easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Graves looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Paul passes into side control.
Graves is breathing heavily.
Graves controls the position for a moment.
Graves is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Paul's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Graves is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Paul's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Paul's back!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Paul tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Graves working for a submission but Paul is keeping him at bay.
Paul is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Paul is squirming around, avoiding Graves's attempts to control the action.
Paul tries to reverse the position but Graves maintains control.
Graves looking to control but Paul is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Graves is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Paul can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Paul can't escape the position.
Graves thowing shots but they're missing.
Paul tries to reverse the position but Graves maintains control.
Graves is trying to control here but Paul has managed to regain half guard.
Paul regains full guard. Nicely done.

Paul is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Paul keeping full guard, as Graves tries to pass.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Robert Graves will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Graves tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Paul holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Graves breaks the clinch.

Paul forces Graves back against the cage and clinches.
Paul keeps control of Graves as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Paul pulls guard successfully.

Graves drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Paul dives on top into guard.
Paul sitting in guard here, content to control.

Paul has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Graves to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Paul is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Graves pulls down on the head and he's put Paul to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Robert Graves!
