The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Felipe Paraventi and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matheus shoots for a takedown but Cortes saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Cortes fakes the leg kick and cracks Matheus in the body.
Cortes gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Matheus to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Nice uppercut lands for Cortes. That snapped Matheus's head back.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Matheus tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Matheus shoots in for a takedown but Cortes shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Cortes lands with a thumping leg kick.
Cortes connects with a body shot.
Matheus throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cortes's waist but Cortes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Matheus off to one side.
Cortes comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Matheus changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cortes tries to avoid it but Matheus manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cortes to the ground. Cortes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Cortes lands a nice hook to Matheus's body. Matheus takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Cortes is looking to slow Matheus down with leg kicks.
Matheus takes one to the side of the head.
Cortes wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Matheus takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Both fighters circling a little - Cortes finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
That kick from Cortes tenderised Matheus's leg. Matheus is trying to keep his angry face on.
Cortes moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Cortes lands a hook that stumbles Matheus back into the cage. Cortes follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Matheus to the canvas! Cortes pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Matheus has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
