Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between king kong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorge Velazquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Velazquez is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Cowboys from hell. king kong has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, king kong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jorge Velazquez!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velazquez shoots in for a double leg but kong sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
kong throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Velazquez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Velazquez is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. kong knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Velazquez is trying to get an arm triangle but kong is defending well.

kong is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Velazquez asserts his dominance and retains side control.

You can see the frustration on kong's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Velazquez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Velazquez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
kong regains half guard, as Velazquez was trying to land strikes.
kong has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Velazquez is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
kong works his way to full guard. Good work.
kong really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

kong is looking to stand up but Velazquez isn't so interested in that idea.

Velazquez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but kong manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Velazquez has kong in his guard.

Velazquez looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! kong has picked Velazquez up and slammed him! Velazquez can't keep hold of the triangle and kong manages to pass to side control!

Velazquez is not content to let kong control the position.
Velazquez is looking for a sweep.

kong cracks Velazquez with a big elbow.
kong blocks the strikes from Velazquez.

and Velazquez holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

kong jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Velazquez walks away with a smile on his face. kong gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Jorge Velazquez dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Velazquez goes for an armbar but kong turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from kong.

kong drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and kong jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Velazquez isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. kong stacks Velazquez on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by kong!

kong thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Velazquez misses with an elbow from the bottom.

king kong overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

kong stands and throws Velazquez's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Velazquez is staying active underneath kong, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Velazquez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to king kong.
I think kong has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
