The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garcia leaves Kriston with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Garcia throws a sloppy head kick and Kriston moves out of range easily.
Garcia feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kriston holds on and takes a little breather.
Garcia controls from within his opponent's guard.
Kriston knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Garcia on the ground.
Garcia drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kriston looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kriston looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kriston!
Kriston throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Garcia manages to get back to half guard.
