PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Julio Dicesar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Czech (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dicesar comes to the cage accompanied by Dream Theater- Overture 1928. Peter Czech told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julio Dicesar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Peter Czech!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Thiago Cunha and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dicesar fails with an attempt to clinch.
Czech scores with a punch to the head.
Czech stuffs the takedown attempt from Dicesar. Dicesar gets slowly back to his feet.
Czech throws a hook but Dicesar avoids it easily.
Dicesar takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Czech throws a shot from downtown. Dicesar moves away and avoids it.
Czech throws a body punch but Dicesar moves out of range.
Czech lands a nice looking body shot.
Czech throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A swing and a miss from Czech.
Czech scores with the left hand. Dicesar knows he should have avoided that one.

Czech misses with a looping left.
Czech takes a swing at Dicesar's ribcage but misses.
Czech fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Dicesar manages to avoid it.
Nice cross by Czech.

Czech feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Dicesar sprawling to the canvas! Dicesar rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Czech finish him?!


It looks like Julio Dicesar has been cut.
Dicesar shoots in looking for a takedown. Czech tries to sprawl out of it but Dicesar keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Czech manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nice defenses there by Dicesar.

Dicesar closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Czech did well to prevent Dicesar getting side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Czech won't allow Dicesar to pass to mount.
Czech pushes Dicesar off looking to stand but Dicesar dives back in and keeps control.
Czech wants to improve his position but Dicesar is controlling well.
Czech is holding on to half guard well.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Dicesar seems to be looking for submissions.
Dicesar stops Czech from getting back to his feet.
Dicesar lands strikes from half guard.
Dicesar prevents Czech from standing back up.

Dicesar is keen to just control but Czech is a slippery customer.

Dicesar swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Czech is now in Dicesar's guard. A big mistake from Dicesar there, giving up the dominant position!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Czech tries to stand but Dicesar is controlling from the bottom.

Dicesar wants to control but Czech passes easily into half guard.
Czech wants to stand but Dicesar has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Czech is thwarting Dicesar's attempts to control the position.
Czech prevents Dicesar from improving his position.

Czech stands up and beckons Dicesar to join him on the feet.
Czech jabbing away but nothing is landing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dicesar scores with a body shot.
Czech dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dicesar shoots in looking for a takedown. Czech tries to sprawl out of it but Dicesar keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Czech manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Horrible takedown by Dicesar or perhaps it was just good defense by Czech which made him look bad.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Czech throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dicesar shoots in for a takedown but Czech shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Peter Czech seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Czech misses the jab.
Czech misses with a wild body shot.

Czech misses with a looping left.
Dicesar moves out of range as Czech strikes.
Dicesar slips a straight right by Czech.
Dicesar fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Czech throws a hook to the side of Dicesar's head but Dicesar sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Czech is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Dicesar.
Dicesar uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Czech.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Dicesar.

Czech swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Dicesar slips a jab and a cross from Czech.
Dicesar throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Czech paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Czech takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Dicesar needs to keep his hands up - Czech had a free shot at his head there.
Dicesar misses with a double jab
and Czech counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Czech misses the jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Czech will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Czech is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Dicesar.
Czech stuffs the takedown.
Czech connects with the punch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dicesar slips a straight right by Czech.
Dicesar takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Julio Dicesar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Czech works Dicesar's body with a nice hook.
Czech has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dicesar takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Peter Czech showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Czech throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Czech drops Dicesar with a naaaaasty hook - Dicesar is in real trouble here! Czech dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:03 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Peter Czech!
