The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chow thows a body shot but no joy.
Cuervo throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Chow avoids a punch combination nicely.

Jose Cuervo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck for Chow with that takedown attempt.

Cuervo throws a right hand that Chow ducks under and follows up with a left that Chow also avoids with ease.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Let's hope that Chow has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Chow postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Cuervo looks a forlorn figure.

Chow throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Cuervo tries to bum rush Chow with a series of wild strikes but Chow uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Chow shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Cuervo is trying to defend but Chow finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
