Bill is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: It rubs the lotion on its skin. Phil Davis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

It looks like Phil Davis has been cut.
Bill throws a head kick that misses.
Bill steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Davis. That one must have hurt.

Davis fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bill, pushing him back against the cage.
Davis has Bill pressed against the cage, preventing Bill from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Bill swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Bill throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Davis blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Bill tries to throw a body punch but Davis avoids it by throwing Bill back against the cage.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bill can do anything to dispel that myth.

Poor strikes thrown by Bill there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Davis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bill swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Davis looking to sit in guard and control but Bill gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bill throws and elbow that misses. Davis uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bill's guard. Nice move by Davis!
