PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ultimate Grappler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Lisnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grappler comes to the cage accompanied by Street Fighter EX plus Alpha OST - God Hands. Lisnar has chosen Bring It On as his entrance music. Brock Lisnar told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lisnar scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Lisnar decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Lisnar shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Lisnar was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Grappler tries to reverse the position but Lisnar maintains control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Grappler regains half guard.

Lisnar stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Lisnar closes the distance and clinches up with Grappler, looking for a takedown. Lisnar pushes Grappler against the cage but Grappler circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Grappler moves in looking to clinch but Lisnar pushes him off.

and Lisnar counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Grappler's guard now.

Grappler escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lisnar gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Lisnar must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Grappler is looking for a triangle but Lisnar pushes his legs off easily.

Lisnar got a little sloppy there for a moment and Grappler has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lisnar has managed to get both his arms back between Grappler's legs - danger averted.

Grappler working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Lisnar has passed into half guard!
Grappler wants to improve his position but Lisnar is controlling well.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Grappler tries to clinch up

so Lisnar counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Grappler looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Lisnar passes into side control.
Grappler is trying to control Lisnar's posture but Lisnar avoids it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Grappler sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Lisnar moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Grappler.
Grappler is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Lisnar is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Grappler is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Grappler bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Lisnar wants to stand but Grappler is controlling the position.

Grappler drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lisnar manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Grappler has Lisnar in his guard.

Lisnar gets to his feet. Grappler looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Grappler wants to clinch but Lisnar slips to the side

and Lisnar counters with a nice double leg into side control. Grappler won't be happy with that.
Lisnar is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Grappler's shoulder. That is not cool.

Lisnar stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Lisnar fails with a takedown attempt.
Lisnar is breathing heavily.
Grappler clinches but Lisnar breaks the clinch

and Lisnar counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Grappler looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Lisnar is sitting in close to Grappler's body. Grappler has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Lisnar is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Lisnar is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Grappler.
