Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kenny Gomi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simo Silakka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gomi's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Slaap lekker!. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kenny Gomi!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Simo Silakka!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Anni Minnemäki and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomi defending well as Silakka loads up on a big left hand.
Good work by Silakka as he checks the leg kick.
Silakka swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gomi shoots in for a takedown but Silakka shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Silakka digs a good hook to Gomi's body.
A slapping body kick lands there for Gomi.
Simo Silakka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silakka throws a looping overhand right but Gomi ducks down to avoid it.
Silakka misses with a hook.
Gomi throws a body punch but Silakka moves out of range.
Gomi lands with a hook. Silakka tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Gomi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Silakka is fending him off so far but Gomi persists. Nope, Silakka circles away and we're back to standing.
Nice shot lands for Gomi.
Silakka defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gomi.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kenny Gomi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Silakka misses with a two punch combination.
Silakka waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Gomi.

Gomi bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Silakka is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gomi working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Silakka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gomi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Silakka prevents Gomi from improving position.
Gomi tries to score with some ground and pound. Silakka controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Check out the look on Gomi's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Gomi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Gomi in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Silakka parries the strikes from Gomi easily there. Gomi is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Silakka to escape.

Gomi is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Silakka bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Gomi throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gomi moves away from the strike by Silakka.
Silakka misses with a wild combination.
Silakka slips a straight right by Gomi.
Silakka on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Silakka throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Gomi moves away from the strike by Silakka.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Silakka looks to land a combination but Gomi avoids it well.
Gomi uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Silakka.
Gomi avoids a punch combination nicely.
Gomi throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gomi throws a series of punches but Silakka avoids them all with ease.
Gomi clobbers Silakka with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Gomi pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Gomi tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Silakka misses with a body shot

and Gomi counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Gomi throwing strikes but missing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Silakka keeping full guard, as Gomi tries to pass.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kenny Gomi dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Silakka throws a series of punches but Gomi moves out of range.

and Gomi makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Silakka misses with a body shot

and Gomi counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Gomi advances position into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gomi misses with the ground and pound.
Gomi cracks Silakka with a big elbow.
Gomi wants to control but Silakka is keeping him busy.
Silakka avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Gomi.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gomi throwing strikes but missing, from side control.

Gomi wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Silakka, who protects the arm well.

Gomi is working to tighten is grip on Silakka's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Silakka has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Gomi is really squeezing tight and eventually Silakka passes out! Gomi breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Kenny Gomi!
