PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alan Winters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Proto Type (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Alan Winters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Proto Type!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Glass and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Winters gets the takedown into side control.
Type is looking to regain half guard here but Winters keeps moving and retains side control.
Winters throwing shots but missing, from side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Type can do anything to dispel that myth.
Type isn't going anywhere.
Type gets back to half guard.
Type wants to control but Winters passes into side.

Winters decides to stand back up. Winters steps back and let's Type get back to his feet.

Winters shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Winters was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Type is defending against the submission attempts here by Winters.

Winters bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Type controls the position for a moment.
Winters tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Winters is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Type knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Winters wants to stand but Type has his arm trapped.

Let's hope that Type has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Alan Winters overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Type looking to hit a scissor sweep but Winters is one step ahead there.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Type tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Winters manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Type shoots for a double leg takedown but Winters sprawls well. He's pushed Type's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Winters with shots to the head and body - Type looks very uncomfortable down there.

Type lands with an uppercut that bounces Winters off the cage and back into rage.

and Type counters with a nice double leg into side control. Winters won't be happy with that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Type cracks Winters with a big right hand but Winters just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Type is working Winters over with some ground and pound from side control.
Winters tries to bench press Type off him but Type keeps the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Proto Type showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Type fails with the takedown

Winters drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Winters jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Winters here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Type is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Winters is looking to stand up but Type won't let him.

Winters tries to free his leg and advance position but Type is retaining full guard.

Winters drops back looking for a leg! Type is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Type manages to kick Winters off! Winters jumps back into Type's guard.

Winters looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Type with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Type is controlling Winters's trapped leg to prevent Winters from advancing to side control.
Winters is pressing down on Type's thigh, looking to free his foot. Type is holding on for now.
Type makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Type.

Winters is pushing down on Type's leg trying to pass to half guard. Type is fighting to maintain full guard but Winters has managed to sneak the leg through.

Winters is working for a kimura but Type is defending it quite comfortably.
Type keeping hold of Winters's head, controlling as best he can.

Winters is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Type has managed to free his arm - good work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Type keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Type manages to get to full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Type is on top in guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Type's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Winters striking off his back but it's not causing Type any problems.

And that's the end of the fight!
Alan Winters showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Winters has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
