The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jass defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Rock.

Rock closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jass to the mat! Jass manages to get full guard.
Rock trying to control but Jass is working from the bottom.

Rock decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Rock shoots in but no luck this time.

Jass has Rock up against the cage in a clinch.
Jass prevents the takedown attempt.
Hugh Jass has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dewey Rock.
Rock looks gassed!

Jass gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rock manages to get to full guard.
Jass postures up and lands a big shot to Rock's brow.

Jass is really struggling to control Rock but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Rock tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rock is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jass is not content to let Rock control the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jass tries to get to full guard but Rock has control of the leg.

Rock looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Rock wants to work for an arm triangle but Jass is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Jass makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jass.
Jass is pulling down on Rock's head. It's preventing any offense from Rock, at least for the moment.

Rock has gone for a leg lock! Jass slips out almost immediately though and dives into Rock's guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Jass is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jass accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jass distracts Rock with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Jass content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Rock is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Rock has his foot on Jass's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jass works his way back into a safe position though.

Jass wants to stand and escape but Rock is having none of it.

Rock is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Jass tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Jass counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Jass keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Rock's head.
