The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kaya misses with a wild body shot.

Kaya shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mortis's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mortis tries to roll over but Kaya keeps him under control.
Kaya seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mortis does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kaya lands a nice short elbow.
Mortis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kaya is working away from the top position though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kaya's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Kaya duly obliges.

Kaya changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mortis tries to avoid it but Kaya manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mortis to the ground. Mortis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kaya shoots in looking for a takedown. Mortis tries to sprawl out of it but Kaya keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mortis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Kaya throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mortis's waist but Mortis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kaya off to one side.

Mortis jumps guard but Kaya stands there with Mortis around his waist. Mortis gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
