PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Will Balanced (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tora Ropez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ropez has chosen Ambrosia as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Will Balanced!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tora Ropez!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Balanced shoots for a double leg takedown but Ropez sprawls well. He's pushed Balanced's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Ropez scores with the left hand. Balanced knows he should have avoided that one.
Balanced shoots in but Ropez avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Tora Ropez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ropez takes the fight into the clinch.
Balanced tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Will Balanced. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ropez drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Balanced pulls guard.
Ropez wanted to stand there but Balanced had control of the position.
Balanced wants to sweep but no luck.
Balanced is trying to keep Ropez in close.

Ropez trying to stand up but can't free himself from Balanced's guard.
Balanced controls Ropez momentarily but Ropez frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ropez is looking to stand up but Balanced won't let him.
Balanced not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Balanced fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Balanced showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ropez.

Balanced closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Balanced working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Balanced throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ropez can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ropez is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Balanced has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Ropez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Balanced. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Balanced working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Balanced is breathing heavily.
Ropez pushes Balanced away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Balanced gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Balanced is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ropez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Ropez wants to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A nice combination there by Ropez.
Ropez scores with a jab.
Ropez misses with a series of wild punches.
Balanced is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ropez moves in looking to clinch but Balanced pushes him off.

Balanced closes the distance and clinches.
Ropez prevents a takedown attempt there.
Ropez wants to break free but Balanced has control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tora Ropez dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Ropez tries to bum rush Balanced with a series of wild strikes but Balanced uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Balanced throws a head kick but Ropez moves out of range.
Ropez fails to land with a series of punches.
Ropez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Balanced.
Balanced throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ropez's waist but Ropez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Balanced off to one side.
Ropez throws a series of strikes that have Balanced backpedaling.


Balanced is rocked!
Ropez misses with the combination.
Oh Balanced is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ropez throws a right hand that Balanced ducks under and follows up with a left that Balanced also avoids with ease.
Balanced tries to clinch but Ropez is having none of it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Balanced looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ropez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ropez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Balanced moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Balanced tries for a takedown but Ropez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ropez misses with a series of wild punches.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ropez swinging wilding here.

Balanced will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Will Balanced. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Tora Ropez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Balanced misses with a double jab
and Ropez counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Balanced off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Ropez follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Balanced was out before he hit the floor.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Tora Ropez!
