PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Raimonds Bergmanis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Albert Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bergmanis comes to the cage accompanied by Twiztid - We Don't Die. Albert Hall told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bergmanis looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Bergmanis thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Hall is trying to stand up here but Bergmanis is controlling him well.
Bergmanis not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Hall avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Bergmanis.
Bergmanis thows a huge punch but Hall dodges it nicely.
Bergmanis is looking to pass Hall's guard but actually Hall recovers to full guard.

Bergmanis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Bergmanis throws and elbow that misses. Hall uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bergmanis's guard. Nice move by Hall!
Bergmanis pulls Hall in close to prevent any damage.
Bergmanis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bergmanis is on top in guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hall utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hall wants to stand up but Bergmanis is controlling him.

Bergmanis drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hall manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bergmanis has Hall in his guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Hall uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Bergmanis.
Hall misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hall moves into range and connects with a jab.
Hall swings for the body but Bergmanis moves out of range.
Hall throws a head kick that half lands.
Bergmanis uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hall.
Hall with a nice cross.
Hall takes a swing at Bergmanis's ribcage but misses.
Bergmanis throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hall throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
No joy there for Hall, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hall throws a shot to the body.
Hall tries to move into range but Bergmanis moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Bergmanis dips to his left and cracks Hall with an uppercut!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bergmanis misses the shot to the body.
Nice defenses there by Bergmanis.
Hall throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Albert Hall is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Hall misses with a hook.
Albert Hall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bergmanis closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Bergmanis lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Bergmanis is working for a kimura but Hall is defending it quite comfortably.

Bergmanis takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Hall keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Bergmanis is taking a breather. Hall says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Hall pushes Bergmanis off looking to stand but Bergmanis dives back in and keeps control.
Bergmanis is trying to control. Hall wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Hall is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Bergmanis asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Hall is breathing heavily.
Hall seems a little lost for a moment, as Bergmanis dominates the positioning.
Hall is trying to buck Bergmanis off.
Check out the look on Bergmanis's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

The cut above Albert Hall's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
