Stone's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Metallica (Stone Cold Crazy). Lapointe is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Don't Drink The Water. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bill Lapointe!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Donatello Bradman and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stone swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Lapointe throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A big left from Stone misses.
Lapointe misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Stone.
Stone pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
No joy there for Stone, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Stone throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A combination from Stone does no damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stone misses with a jab, cross combination.
Lapointe bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Lapointe avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Stone throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Stone works over Lapointe's head and body with a nice combination.


It looks like Bill Lapointe has been cut.
Stone is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Lapointe's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Stone throws a jab but it's blocked by Lapointe.
Stone looks to throw the jab but Lapointe is out of range.

Lapointe tries for a takedown but Stone sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Lapointe lands a glancing blow to the side of Stone's head.

Stone looks to land a combination but Lapointe avoids it well.
Lapointe slips a jab and a cross from Stone.
Lapointe displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Stone throws out the jab.
Lapointe throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Stone looks to throw the jab but Lapointe is out of range.
Stone throws a series of punches but Lapointe moves out of range.
Stone throws a hook to the side of Lapointe's head but Lapointe sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Lapointe misses with a wild body shot.
Lapointe slips under a jab.
Stone missing with a left hand there. Lapointe was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A big left from Stone misses.
James Stone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lapointe shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Lapointe was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Lapointe looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Stone wants to hold on but Lapointe pushes him away.

Lapointe is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Stone is surviving well by controlling Lapointe's body position as best he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lapointe wants to control the pace but Stone is squirming around nicely.

Lapointe fails to advance to Stone's back.
Stone is looking to get to half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Stone is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Lapointe fails to advance to Stone's back.

Lapointe is working for a guillotine from mount but Stone frees his head quite easily.

Lapointe working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Stone turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Lapointe off and cradles Stone's limp body as Lapointe celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Bill Lapointe!
