PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Angelo Villar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Sela (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Villar's entrance music is Kamao. A fine choice. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Fernando Sela enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Angelo Villar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Fernando Sela!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Villar shoots in for a takedown but Sela shows good takedown defense.
Villar closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sela circles away.
Villar stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Villar wants it to stay on the feet.

Sela shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Villar manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Villar on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Villar tries to get out of the position.

Sela drops back looking for a leg! Villar is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Villar manages to kick Sela off! Sela jumps back into Villar's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sela wants to control from the top but Villar keeps moving.

Sela wants to pass the guard but Villar is keeping the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Fernando Sela hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Villar fails with the takedown

and Sela counters with a single leg into guard. Villar didn't expect that.

Villar pulls Sela in close to prevent any damage.

Sela thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Villar wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

and Sela counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Sela wants to control from the top but Villar keeps moving.

Villar misses with a takedown

and Sela counters with a nice double leg into side control. Villar won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sela tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Sela wants to control but Villar is keeping him busy.
Villar stops Sela from passing to mount.

Sela looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Sela is breathing heavily.

Sela working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Villar knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sela on the ground.
Villar is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Sela has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Sela wants to control but Villar is keeping him busy.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Sela tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Sela fails to land a wild elbow strike.
You can see the frustration on Villar's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Sela tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sela has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Sela thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Fernando Sela has got the better of the ground game so far.
Sela misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Sela is bucking up trying to escape but Villar cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
