PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Silent Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clifford Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Silent Bob!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Clifford Harris!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bob changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Harris tries to avoid it but Bob manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Harris to the ground. Harris escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Harris closes the distance and clinches.
Harris jumps guard but Bob stands there with Harris around his waist. Harris gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Harris breaks from the clinch.
Harris gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

so Bob counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Harris wants to sweep here but Bob controlling him for the moment.
Harris not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Harris wants to get back to his feet but Bob passes into half guard.
Bob will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Harris wants to control the action here but instead Bob manages to pass to full mount!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harris is trying desperately to improve position.
Harris manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Bob wants to stand up but Harris has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Harris wants to get back to full guard but Bob has mounted him!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Harris tries to hold on but Bob postures up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Harris can do anything to dispel that myth.
Harris is trying to reverse the position but instead Bob has taken his back - oops!
Harris turns into Bob and is now in his guard.
Harris trying to control the position from guard on top but Bob is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Harris is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bob is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bob has escaped and now he's on top!

Bob won't allow Harris to get back to his feet.
Harris looks gassed!

Bob stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Bob shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Harris is looking for a triangle here but Bob uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Bob stands up and beckons Harris to his feet.
Harris shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Harris shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Harris was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Harris thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Silent Bob dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Bob shoots in and gets a takedown into Harris's guard.
Harris looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Bob gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Harris clinches up with Bob and pushes him back against the cage.

Harris successfully pulls guard.

Bob decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Silent Bob is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Harris gets a clinch.
Harris tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bob just stands there and leans against the cage.
Harris blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Bob changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Harris fights it off and pushes away nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Harris moves into the clinch successfully.

Harris pulls guard effortlessly.
Bob would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Harris looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Harris trying to keep a closed guard but Bob is proving a slippery customer.

Bob decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Harris, up you get!
Harris is breathing heavily.

Bob with a poor takedown

and Harris counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Harris.
Bob keeping moving, preventing Harris from controlling successfully.

Bob is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Harris breaks from the clinch.

Harris takes the fight into the clinch.
Harris fails to pull the fight into his guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bob is trying to drag Harris to the mat but Harris just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Silent Bob. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Harris jumps into guard, dragging Bob to the mat.
Harris is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Harris looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Harris working a defensive guard but Bob manages to pass into side control anyway.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
A control attempt from Harris but he's now mounted!

Bob get's back to his feet.

Harris shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bob is trying to defend but Harris finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Harris is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Bob still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Bob has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Clifford Harris will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Bob has his takedown stuffed
and Harris counters with a nice body shot.

Harris scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Silent Bob overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Harris looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Bob makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Bob shoots and misses

and Harris counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Bob working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Harris.
Harris wants to control from the top but Bob keeps moving.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Harris accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Harris stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bob swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bob wants to get back to his feet but Harris is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Harris looking to sit in guard and control but Bob gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bob prevents Harris from getting back to his feet.
Harris is trying to keep Bob in close.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Harris is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Clifford Harris hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

so Bob counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Harris is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Bob decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

and Harris counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Silent Bob. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bob is staying active underneath Harris, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Harris is looking to stall here but Bob recovers full guard.
Bob avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

And that's the end of the fight!
Clifford Harris comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Harris has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
