Doe is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Apple really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Doe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Doe tries to pass the half guard into mount. Apple knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
