Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Teeps (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Neil Downs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Sano and Tatsuya Matsuyama.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Downs throws the kick towards the body but Teeps avoids it.
Teeps shoots in looking for a takedown. Downs tries to sprawl out of it but Teeps keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Downs manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Downs stuffs the takedown.
Downs tries to clinch but Teeps is having none of it.

Teeps takes the fight into the clinch.
Downs jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Teeps walks away with a smile on his face. Downs gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Teeps lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Downs circles away quickly and effectively.

Downs darts in and clinches Teeps up against the cage.

Teeps throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Downs escapes and throws Teeps's legs to the side, diving into side control!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Downs wants to lay and pray for a moment but Teeps keeps working.

Teeps could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Downs throws a strike aimed at the side of Teeps's head but Teeps avoids it well.
Downs working the ground and pound but Teeps is defending the strikes.

Downs stands up and beckons Teeps to his feet.

Teeps prevents Downs from breaking the clinch.

Downs tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Teeps smiles and moves away.
Downs misses with a takedown attempt - Teeps sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Johnny Teeps has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Neil Downs.

Teeps doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Teeps tries to score a power double leg takedown but Downs sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Teeps somewhat.

Downs manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Teeps manages to get himself to full guard.
Downs is fighting to break Teeps's control of his arms but Teeps is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

and Downs counters with a nice double leg into side control. Teeps won't be happy with that.

Downs decides to stand up, so the ref orders Teeps to his feet.
Teeps blocks a leg kick.
Teeps shoots in for a double leg but Downs sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Teeps tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Downs connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and Downs counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Downs.
Downs gets through Teeps's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Downs is trying to force a seperation but Teeps has the dominant position.

Downs jumps guard but Teeps stands there with Downs around his waist. Downs gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Teeps stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Downs swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Teeps might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Teeps pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Downs is keeping the position for now.
Teeps tries to stand but Downs is controlling from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Downs.
Downs misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Teeps throws a shot from downtown. Downs moves away and avoids it.
Downs throws a series of punches but Teeps moves out of range.

Neil Downs showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Downs shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Downs is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Downs stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Downs shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Teeps as he jumps to the side.
Downs looks to land a combination but Teeps avoids it well.

Teeps is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Downs knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Teeps has knee on belly momentarily but Downs bucks him off and regains half guard.

Well Downs has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
