Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cole Trane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jarno Highwayz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Cole Trane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jarno Highwayz!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Trane bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Trane wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Highwayz, who protects the arm well.

Trane goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Highwayz rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Trane's guard! Nice work there by Highwayz!

Trane working for a triangle but Highwayz defends it easily.

Trane looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Trane wants to sweep here but Highwayz controlling him for the moment.

Highwayz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Trane keeping moving, preventing Highwayz from controlling successfully.

Trane is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Highwayz wants to pass the guard but Trane is keeping the position.
Trane looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Trane is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Highwayz gets to his feet - Trane follows without any prompting.
Trane moves out of range of the leg kick from Highwayz.
Highwayz tries to clinch but Trane is having none of it.
Highwayz checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Trane throws a hook but Highwayz blocks it.

Trane closes the distance and pushes Highwayz back into the cage.
Highwayz tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Trane drags the fight down to the ground.

Trane is working an open guard so Highwayz takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Trane takes the fight into the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Highwayz gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Trane.
With the fighters up against the cage, Highwayz throws an elbow but misses.
Highwayz taking a breather.
Trane tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Highwayz just stands there and leans against the cage.

Trane has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Highwayz uses from the top position.

Trane escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Highwayz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Trane is looking for a triangle but Highwayz pushes his legs off easily.

Trane has his foot on Highwayz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Highwayz works his way back into a safe position though.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Trane throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Highwayz escapes and throws Trane's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Highwayz trying to control the action but Trane is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Trane tries to improve position but can't.

Highwayz decides to stand up, so the ref orders Trane to his feet.
Highwayz looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Highwayz looks gassed!
Highwayz misses with an uppercut.

Trane has closed the distance and engaged Highwayz in a clinch.
Trane jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Highwayz walks away with a smile on his face. Trane gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cole Trane. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Trane shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Trane was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Trane swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Highwayz is now in Trane's guard. A big mistake from Trane there, giving up the dominant position!
Trane is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Trane throws a strike but Highwayz avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Trane is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Highwayz is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Highwayz has escaped and now he's on top!

Trane is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Highwayz is aware though and is defending well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Trane lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Highwayz!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Trane misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cole Trane dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Trane moves away from the strike by Highwayz.
Trane slips a jab and a cross from Highwayz.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Trane jumps into guard, dragging Highwayz to the mat.
Highwayz stopping the sweep attempt from Trane.

Highwayz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Trane has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Highwayz has managed to get both his arms back between Trane's legs - danger averted.
Highwayz must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Trane had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Highwayz defends it easily.

Trane working for submissions but it's allowed Highwayz to get to half guard.
Trane is trying to get back to full guard.
Cole Trane overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Highwayz prevents Trane from improving his position.
Highwayz wants to control but Trane is keeping him busy.

Trane looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Trane is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Highwayz's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Highwayz's back!

Trane is persistently looking for the submission but Highwayz is defending it well.

Trane has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Trane keeps control of the position as Highwayz tries to break free.
Highwayz is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Trane has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Highwayz has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Highwayz covering up well and avoiding damage.
Highwayz grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.

Trane looking to break Highwayz's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Highwayz remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Trane will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Trane has got one arm under Highwayz's chin. This could be trouble... Highwayz trying to control the other hand but Trane gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Highwayz has tapped out! The fight is over!
