Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnnie Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Powers is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Not Afraid. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Johnnie Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Max Powers!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walker drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Walker looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Powers struggling a bit here.

Walker tries for a kimura but Powers is defending well.

Powers tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Walker wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Powers is working to avoid the ground and pound but Walker connects with a decent elbow.
Powers is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Walker's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Powers looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Powers is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Walker thows a huge punch but Powers dodges it nicely.

Walker is keen to just control but Powers is a slippery customer.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Powers looks like he's trying to stand up.
Walker has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Powers is refusing to be controlled, as Walker sits in half guard.

Powers kicks Walker off and gets back to his feet.
Walker looks to score with a jab to the body but Powers is just out of range.

Powers shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Powers showed some decent athleticism there.
Walker wants to improve his position but Powers is controlling well.

Walker is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Powers's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Powers's back!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Walker tries to pass to full mount but Powers defends it.

Powers is looking for a sweep. Walker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Walker is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Powers is just riding it out for now. Walker eventually gives up the hold.

Walker is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Powers defends it well.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnnie Walker dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Powers shoots and misses

and Walker decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Powers's guard.
Powers is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Walker drops back looking for a leg! Powers is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Powers manages to kick Walker off! Walker jumps back into Powers's guard.

Walker drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Walker jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Walker drops back, looking for a kneebar! Powers looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Powers looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Powers!

Walker thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Powers's head.

Walker is looking for submissions but instead, Powers has regained full guard.
Powers controls Walker momentarily but Walker frees himself.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Walker drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Powers manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Walker has Powers in his guard.

Walker bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Powers's guard.

A close second round but Max Powers will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Powers closes the distance and clinches.

Walker is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Walker goes for a takedown in the clinch but Powers prevents it.

Powers gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Walker scrambles and gets back to his feet.

and Powers counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Powers sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Walker's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Walker working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Powers doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Powers manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Powers stands up from Walker's guard - Powers perhaps looking for a knockout.

Powers feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Walker is on top in guard.
Walker tries to free his leg and advance position but Powers is retaining full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Max Powers comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Powers has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
